The Top O’ Michigan Outboard Racing Club – on behalf of the racing teams and thousands of fans that enjoy this event each August – would like to say thank you!
Thank you to the residents of Emmet and Cheboygan Counties that have allowed the APBA Stock Outboard Marathon National Championships to be conducted on the inland waterway for the past 76 years.
The Top O’ Michigan course, traversing the lakes and rivers of Northern Michigan, is simply unmatched. It is recognized by racers everywhere as the most exceptional, exciting, and awesome racing venue challenging drivers anywhere in the world. Boat racing teams travel hundreds of miles just for the opportunity to run at Top O’. We live for this opportunity, as there is absolutely nothing like it in the racing world.
We know that our race disrupts activity on the waterway during a prime August weekend. We sincerely hope that the thrill of spectating, plus the economic benefits the event brings to Indian River and the surrounding communities, more than offsets the disruption to the generous property owners near DeVoe Beach and along the course.
We particularly want to thank the Cheboygan and Emmet County Sheriff’s Offices, plus all of the township supervisors, the DNR, and the numerous patrol boat volunteers that donate their time and energy to help us organize and conduct the race. You are too numerous to name individually, but this event could not take place without the assistance and cooperation of every last one of you. It is most greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
